Applications for the 2022 Charles Sturt University Community University Partnership (CUP) Grants program will open on Tuesday 1 February 2022.

The program is an opportunity for community groups, schools and individuals from Charles Sturt’s regional communities to apply for grants of up to $1,000.

Grants can be put towards regional programs in the following areas – arts and culture, education, health and wellbeing, environmental sustainability and sport.

Charles Sturt Director of External Engagement in Bathurst and Orange, Ms Julia Andrews, said the CUP Grants program supports community-based projects that achieve great results.

“CUP Grants are a way for our community groups, schools and individuals to develop an idea or project that is beneficial for the local community,” Ms Andrews said.

“The funding application process is not difficult, and we are looking for local projects that can often get overlooked in big funding rounds but for whom $1,000 will really make a difference.”

“From funding monkey bars to sensory gardens and robotics learning spaces in previous rounds, Charles Sturt is proud to support these enriching initiatives that assist with the development of our communities.”

“The program is widespread having awarded funding to communities across NSW, including to recipients such as Wauchope Public School in Port Macquarie, Bathurst Aboriginal Land Council, and Pinnacle Preschool in Orange, just to name a few,” she said.

The CUP Grants program is designed to support the development of regions across Charles Sturt’s footprint through contributions to cultural, economic, sporting and related activities and build higher education aspiration and awareness, particularly among young people in rural and regional communities.

Applications for the CUP Grants open on Tuesday 1 February 2022 and close on Wednesday 9 March 2022. Applications can be made via the 'Grants' page on the Charles Sturt website.
