Charles Sturt University’s popular Community University Partnership (CUP) Grants Program is open for applications.

The program offers grants of up to $1,000 to schools, community groups, sporting clubs and First Nations groups seeking funding for projects that benefit local communities through arts and culture, education, health and wellbeing, environmental sustainability, or sport.

Charles Sturt Head of Government Relations and Regional Engagement Ms Samantha Beresford said the CUP Grants program is a great funding initiative that helps communities at a local level grow and flourish.

“At Charles Sturt University, we are proud to support our local communities develop throughout our regional footprint,” Ms Beresford said.

“We recognise the invaluable contributions that organisations across our extensive footprint make to regional and rural communities. The University is committed to continue to provide financial support to ensure these organisations can thrive and continue making a positive impact through the projects and initiatives they deliver.

“In the past, projects have supported organisations such as Cycling Without Age in Wagga Wagga, the Housing Plus Domestic Violence service for women and children in Orange, the Wingham Music Festival and the Dubbo Touch Football Association.”

Ms Beresford encourages applications from anyone with a passion and plan to help their community thrive, noting the long list of successful applicants in 2023.

“Last year we offered more than $64,500 in funding for local non-profit community groups and education institutions as part of our CUP Grant program, which supported 66 projects,” she said.

“It’s a simple application process, and we encourage all groups keen to develop a community-based initiative to go ahead and apply.”

Grants are open to all schools, community organisations and individuals who reside in the following Charles Sturt University campus locations of Orange, Bathurst, Dubbo, Port Macquarie, Wagga Wagga, Albury-Wodonga and Wangaratta.

Applications for the CUP Grants will close on Sunday 3 March. Applications can be made via the 'Grants' page on the Charles Sturt website.
