The celebrations at Charles Sturt University (CSU) in 2009 marking its 20th anniversary are going global in line with the international reach of the higher education institution.
The University’s Study Centres are hosting anniversary dinners in Sydney, the Sri Lankan capital of Colombo and Melbourne in November and December.
About 50 education agents from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka are expected to attend the 20th Anniversary Commemoration Dinner from 7pm on Tuesday 17 November in the Hilton Colombo in Sri Lanka.
The event will be hosted by CSU Study Centre Campus Director Ms Sue Bakir.
Charles Sturt University Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Ian Goulter said, “Our 20th anniversary year is an opportunity for us to gather together to reminisce on our shared success and pause for a moment before moving on to greater achievement in 2010 and beyond.”
In a partnership between Charles Sturt University and Study Group Australia, students are able to undertake their degree through the CSU Study Centres in Melbourne and Sydney.
There are more than 1 000 students enrolled through CSU Study Centres to undertake undergraduate and postgraduate accounting, business and information technology courses.
Ahead of the 20th Anniversary Commemoration Dinner in Colombo, Charles Sturt University will unveil its new Master of Business Administration (MBA) program and the CSU Study Centre prospectus for 2010.

Addressing the function in Sydney, the Director of Student Recruitment at CSU Study Centres, Mr Matthew Durie said, “During more than 10 years of the delivery of CSU programs in partnership with Study Group Australia, about 4 769 students have been welcomed into the program.”
“We have welcomed students from 51 different countries – from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe making the CSU Study Centres a truly international environment for all who work and study there.”
Charles Sturt University was established when the Charles Sturt University Act was passed by the NSW Parliament in July 1989. However the institution’s history can be traced back to the Bathurst Experimental Farm, established in 1895.
