Charles Sturt University (CSU) has successfully won funding to send students overseas in 2018 for further studies, and to host 12 overseas scholars to develop their skills and relations with CSU.

- The University been awarded $122,500 from the Federal government’s Endeavour Mobility Grants to fund overseas studies by 45 CSU students.

- Five groups of students will be subsidised to travel to and study in five overseas programs in Cambodia, India, Nepal and the United Kingdom.

- Twelve international scholars will also visit CSU in 2018 under the Endeavour Scholarship and Fellowship programs, worth a total of $282,000.

- The scholars, from Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, Italy, Iraq, Jordan, Nepal and New Zealand, will undertake research and professional development in such diverse disciplines as animal and crop sciences, computing science, security studies, engineering, and nutritional and nursing studies.

- Both funds also assist CSU in building relations with overseas partner universities.

“These programs foster ongoing academic, research and teaching and learning relations between institutions and professionals within Australia and worldwide,” said Dr Shevahn Telfser, Manager of CSU Global.

“The Endeavour programs increase mobility of individual students and academics into and out of Australia, providing opportunities for Australians to be at the cutting edge of discovery and application. This is a key goal for the Federal government’s National Strategy for International Education 2025.

“The Endeavour programs are vital in improving the accessibility of international study for both undergraduate and post graduate students,” Dr Telfser said.

“In many instances without this funding CSU students would not be able to study overseas, and Australia would not be an affordable study option for academics from overseas that come through the Fellowship programs.”
