Mr Cochrane brings with him a diverse range of experience in the international arena, in positions such as Director of offshore projects for Monash International, General Manager of Indonesian education group, UniSadhuGuna and business environment specialist for the World Bank in East Timor.
“I’m looking forward to working with colleagues to build on the excellent work that has been done in delivering programs for international students who study in Australia, by distance education and through our partners here and offshore,” he said.
“I hope to add value through my contacts in Asia and my wide experience as a development project manager and consultant.”
Mr Cochrane said management of international graduates (alumni) is a “particular passion” and is an area he hopes to work on as the new CSU International Office Director.
He said CSU has a “strong quality image” internationally, through its partnerships and alliances that are marked by a diversity and drive that make CSU distinctive from other universities in Australia.
“While I won’t be bringing a set approach to CSU, I have seen a lot of methodologies, people and challenges in international marketing in my previous positions – I believe all this will bring a positive effect,” he said.
Mr Cochrane welcomed new international students to the Wagga Wagga Campus yesterday.
