The latest award winning communication graduate from Charles Sturt University is recent British Academy (BAFTA) award winner Hattie Dalton.

Ms Dalton, a 1995 graduate with a BA Communication (Honours) co-wrote and co-produced the BAFTA winning short film, The Banker with Kelly Broad. The two have previously won awards in the United States and the United Kingdom for their short films. Ms Dalton moved to London four years ago to pursue a career in script writing.

Hattie Dalton’s success emulates that of other highly regarded CSU alumni in the film and theatre industry, including:

  • Hollywood scriptwriter Stuart Beattie (1992 Journalism/Organisational Communication graduate) who wrote Collateral and wrote the screen treatment for Pirates of the Caribbean
  • Writer and actor, Brendan Cowell (1997 Theatre-Media graduate). He was recently seen in the FOX television drama Love My Way. His play Bed was a co-winner of the Patrick White Playwrights’ Award, and his works have been performed regularly at venues throughout Australia.
  • Film producer Darren Ashton (1992 Theatre-Media graduate). He most recently produced the Australian tribute film to AC/DC, Thunderstruck, which was released in 2004.
Charles Sturt University Vice-Chancellor Professor Ian Goulter said he had sent his congratulations to Ms Dalton on her success, citing it as a tribute to the drive and professionalism of many communication graduates.
