Charles Sturt University (CSU) students have won a global advertising competition for the third time since 1999.
The team of seven students from Charles Sturt University’s advertising agency Kajulu Communications was judged the best from over 100 entries from universities and colleges worldwide in the 2005 International Advertising Association’s (IAA) InterAd World Championship student competition.
“CSU and Kajulu have accomplished something never before achieved in this international competition – three World Championship wins in six years,” said acting Head of the University’s School of Communication, Rod McCulloch.
The Kaluju team developed a comprehensive advertising campaign for the international Internet company Yahoo! to top the worldwide competition, with winners announced on 7 July.
Dean of CSU’s Faculty of Arts Professor Lyn Gorman complimented the team on their outstanding result. “This wonderful achievement demonstrates the commitment of the CSU staff involved and the consistently high achievements of students in this course,” said Professor Gorman.
The Kajulu Communications entry represented the Asia Pacific region, having achieved first place in the regional competition in June. Members of the team can look forward to collecting their award in USA later this year.
The CSU student agency has previously won the global IAA InterAd World Championships in 1999 and 2002, from an international field of over 70 universities and tertiary institutions. The agency has also won the Asia Pacific IAA regional award on four occasions.
Kajulu Communications is Charles Sturt University’s student advertising agency. Students gain professional experience working with real clients while completing their course. After completing their degrees, nearly all Kajulu students have been employed in the advertising and marketing industries.
