Charles Sturt University’s Foundation Day in 2020 will be a virtual celebration due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Charles Sturt was created through an Act of Parliament that was formally incorporated on 19 July 1989 and each year Foundation Day celebrates the founding of the University on the Wednesday closest to 19 July.
This year Foundation Day will be held on Wednesday 22 July and students, staff and alumni will celebrate the University’s contribution to their lives and regions.
Charles Sturt Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor John Germov said, “Foundation Day is a chance to come together virtually and celebrate our proud history with our community of students, staff, alumni and supporters.
“Charles Sturt University continues to make a huge contribution to regional development and offers higher education in fields critical to our regions, and the nation.
“Our students and alumni are creating a world worth living in by making a true impact in their communities.
“This year, Foundation Day will be an opportunity for us to acknowledge some of the tough times we have faced, and the incredible ways we have banded together as a community.
“Foundation Day in 2020 will bring together our staff, students and communities from the comfort of their homes.
Charles Sturt is encouraging staff, students and members of the community to share on social media how they are celebrating Foundation Day this year. This could include planting trees, baking impressive cakes, or relaxing in their favourite Charles Sturt hoodie.
