Service heralds Parliamentary activities for 2003

Federal Parliament will commence its formal activities for 2003 at the Australia Centre for Christianity and Culture in Canberra tomorrow, Tuesday 4 February 2003.

Federal Parliament will commence its formal activities for 2003 at the Australia Centre for Christianity and Culture (ACC&C) in Canberra tomorrow, Tuesday 4 February 2003.

ACC&C Chair and Anglican Archbishop of the Canberra and Goulburn Diocese, The Right Reverend Bishop George Browning, will preach at the 2003 Parliamentary Service, which is held each year before the opening of Federal Parliament. 

This is the first time the Parliamentary Service has been held at the Centre.

The Prime Minister, The Hon. John Howard, and Leader of the Opposition, The Hon. Simon Crean, will lead up to 200 participants, including numerous Federal parliamentarians, in prayer at the event.

ACC&C is affiliated with Charles Sturt University (CSU) and is housed adjacent to the University’s School of Theology in Canberra.

CSU’s new Chancellor Mr Lawrie Willett, AO and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Ross Chambers will also attend the event.

The Parliamentary Service will start at 8am tomorrow, Tuesday 4 February in the ACC&C Chapel, 15 Blackwell Street in Barton, Canberra.
