Vice-Chancellor of Charles Sturt University (CSU) Professor Ian Goulter today congratulated the new leader of the Federal Parliamentary Labor Party, The Hon. Kevin Rudd, MP. Mr Rudd is a member of the Board of CSU’s Australian Centre for Christianity and Culture (ACCC) in Canberra.

The ACCC is the only university research centre of its kind in Australia. The Centre has a national ecumenical focus, involving participants from across Christian denominations and exploring the relationship between Christianity and wider society.

The Centre is located on the University’s Canberra Campus alongside the CSU School of Theology, one of the largest providers of theological education in Australia.  Also based at the Canberra Campus is the CSU Public and Contextual Theology Research Centre, which recently forged an important new Global Network with Princeton University, Stellenbosch University, Manchester University and Edinburgh University in public theology.

“Kevin is a person of great integrity and vision,” said Professor Goulter. “His participation as a member of the Board of the ACCC reflects his shared interest with CSU to cooperation amongst Christian churches and between Christianity and other faiths.

“That a Leader of the Opposition has publicly supported the work of the ACCC, including the presentation of ethical values in national discourse and a commitment to reconciliation in all its meanings is, we think, highly significant.

“We look forward to continuing our work with the new Leader of the Opposition and wish him well in this important new endeavour,” said Professor Goulter.
