- Charles Sturt University Master of Teaching (Secondary) degrees suitable for NSW Government Department of Education ‘Transition to Teaching Scholarships’
- Scholarships are worth up to $10,000 per year while studying full-time, $1,000 per week professional experience allowance, plus support and teaching positions in NSW after completion
- Students can indicate their preference to teach in various locations across NSW, and receive a permanent position in a NSW public school upon completion of their degree; applications close Friday 14 March
Charles Sturt University welcomes potential students who are applying for the 2025 Transition to Teaching Scholarship Program offered by the NSW Department of Education.
Transition to Teaching Scholarships are available for future teachers (currently enrolled or commencing) of secondary mathematics, science (chemistry or physics), engineering studies, industrial technology - metal and timber, agriculture or food technology.
The scholarships are ideal for ‘career changers’ and ‘degree changers’ who would like to become a teacher by studying the Master of Teaching (Secondary) online in the Charles Sturt School of Education.
Ms Melanie Sugumaran, the Course Director for the Master of Teaching (Secondary), said the Transition to Teaching Scholarships offered by the NSW Department of Education aim to support career changers to become teachers in NSW.
“Charles Sturt University (and its predecessor institutions) has more than 70 years’ experience with helping career changers to reach their goal of becoming a teacher,” Ms Sugumaran said.
“The Transition to Teaching Scholarships enable students to enrol in the Master of Teaching (Secondary) at Charles Sturt University and study 100 per cent of coursework online.
“Students can complete their study with the University in just two years of full-time study or can accelerate study and complete in less than two years
.”
Scholarship recipients will receive financial support of up to $10,000 per year while studying full-time, as well as $1,000 per week professional experience allowance, the ability to commence teaching on a casual basis after six months, and a permanent teaching position in NSW after completion.
“The School of Education has a dedicated work placement team who will tailor work placements to the needs and circumstances of the students that meet the scholarship requirements,” Ms Sugumaran said.
“The Charles Sturt School of Education has strong links with industry, so its courses remain grounded in current professional practice.
“Our teaching degrees are nationally accredited with the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) to teach anywhere in Australia, and our teaching courses have a strong reputation in the industry.”
Applications to the NSW Department of Education close at 11.59pm on Friday 14 March.
