Australian universities must commit to working closer with business and community to drive research and provide stimulating learning experiences if they are to survive, a national conference has heard.

The CSU Council today announced the election of Dr Michele Allan as the University's third Chancellor. Dr Allan will take up the position on Wednesday 3 December 2014, following the retirement of Chancellor Mr Lawrie Willett, AO at the end of the year.

CSU will host the 2014 Engagement Australia Conference in Wagga Wagga from Monday 21 to Wednesday 23 July.
