- The Elders Limited Board of Directors visited Charles Sturt in Wagga Wagga on Tuesday 29 April to further a new partnership
Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga hosted the Elders Limited Board of Directors as part of a partnership agreement designed to advance agricultural innovation, sustainability and education.
This week’s visit stemmed from a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that was signed by the two organisations in March.
The collaboration focuses on agricultural initiatives, including the establishment of the BioSolutions Innovation and Knowledge Hub, which is managed by the University’s Agrisciences Research and Business Park (AgriPark).
Charles Sturt Chancellor Dr Michele Allan, AO, said Charles Sturt was proud to welcome the Elders Board of Directors to work together to shape the future of Australian agriculture.
“This partnership reflects our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and the development of the next generation of agricultural leaders,” Dr Allan said.
“Charles Sturt University is proud to showcase our world-class research facilities to the Elders board of directors. Our cutting-edge infrastructure and industry-led research are driving innovation in agriculture and this visit highlights the important role our University plays in shaping a sustainable and productive future for the sector.”
Elders representatives toured Charles Sturt’s agricultural research facilities, including the Feedlot of the Future and the Rhyzolysimeter and learned about the BioSolutions Hub, which will foster advancements in sustainability and productivity.
AgriPark Executive Director Mr Nick Pagett said the BioSolutions Innovation and Knowledge Hub represents a leap forward in how we bring agricultural science to market.
“Elders’ visit is a key step in building collaborative solutions that will benefit producers, industry, and the environment alike,” he said.
“Strong industry partnerships like the one with Elders are essential to driving impactful research and creating real-world opportunities for our students.
“Collaborations like this ensure our work remains relevant, applied, and deeply connected to the future needs of the agricultural sector.”
Elders Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Mr Mark Allison said research collaboration to build confidence and support Australian farmers to capture opportunities from the emerging biosolutions market is just the beginning of the opportunities between Elders and Charles Sturt.
“Partnering with the independent and scientific expertise of Charles Sturt University, Elders’ team of agronomists, livestock production advisors and rural products specialists will gain enhanced access to and engagement with the latest cutting-edge agricultural research across a wide range of fields,” he said.
“This collaboration will elevate Elders’ service offerings, supporting improved farming outcomes and benefiting the broader Australian agricultural sector.
“Elders anticipates the Board’s visit to Charles Sturt University will provide insight into transformative research and innovation firsthand.”
