As some of the world’s best athletes embark on elite competition at the 2008 Olympics and the world’s media focuses on Beijing, Charles Sturt University (CSU) has commentators available on various aspects of the international event.   

They include:

• Dr Stephen Bird will be track-side in Beijing with competitors in the Indonesian Olympic Team. He has coached athletes to develop the team’s strength and conditioning exercise rehabilitation. A lecturer with the CSU School of Human Movement Studies in Bathurst, Dr Bird leaves for China on Tuesday 12 August. Read more here.
  
  
• Mr Hunter Doughty attended the Australian equestrian event team’s final training camp in Sydney as an observer before the team’s departure for Hong Kong, where the Olympic equestrian events will be held from Saturday 9 August. Mr Doughty is a lecturer in equine science based in Wagga Wagga.
  
  
• Associate Professor Michael Gard, a specialist in sports sociology and sports history, appears on ABC Local Radio’s Grandstand program in NSW as its ‘resident thinker’. Associate Professor Gard is from the CSU School of Human Movement Studies in Bathurst.
  
  
• Dr Bruce Graham is a lecturer in human anatomy and human physiology in the CSU School of Biomedical Sciences in Wagga Wagga. He can comment on areas such as the general physiology of sports drug doping, respiratory issues and sports injury.
  
  
• Television production students from the CSU School of Visual and Performing Arts in Wagga Wagga are working at
  the Beijing Games as camera operators and production support staff. Read more here.
