Charles Sturt University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ian Goulter, has welcomed news of $2 million from the Federal Government for veterinary science facilities at the University’s Wagga Wagga Campus.

Charles Sturt University (CSU) Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ian Goulter, has welcomed news of $2 million from the Federal Government for veterinary science facilities at the University’s Wagga Wagga Campus.

The Federal Minister for Education, Science and Training, the Hon. Julie Bishop, advised the University yesterday, Tuesday 15 May, of the additional funding following broad announcements made by the Treasurer, Mr Peter Costello, in last week’s Federal Budget.

Professor Goulter said that this was excellent news for the people of Wagga Wagga and for CSU.

“This funding will provide the infrastructure that is necessary to support the growth of courses and student places in the School of Agricultural and Veterinary Sciences at CSU’s Wagga Wagga Campus.

“I am pleased to acknowledge Mrs Kay Hull, MP, federal Member for Riverina, for her support of the funding bid. The Federal Government demonstrated its support for rural Australians through its continuing commitment to CSU as the leading university of inland Australia,” Professor Goulter said.

The $2 million is for 2009 and builds on funding previously received. The Minister also announced $3.5 million funding for Clinical Science facilities on CSU’s Orange Campus.
