The Federal Minister for Agriculture Warren Truss will join Australia’s chief veterinary officer to formally launch the Veterinary Science program at Charles Sturt University (CSU) in Wagga Wagga on Tuesday, 24 February 2004.
Approval was given last year by the Federal Government for the inclusion of Veterinary Science to the University’s course profile in 2005, which will see CSU as the only provider of veterinary science graduates outside metropolitan Australia.
Mr Truss will launch Veterinary Science at CSU in the Convention Centre on the Wagga Wagga Campus at 11.15am, Tuesday 24 February.
At the launch, the country’s chief veterinary officer Dr Gardner Murray will speak on “Veterinarians in the 21st Century – some perspectives” and Emeritus Professor Otto Radostits, from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine at Canada’s University of Saskatoon, will speak about the importance of rural veterinarians from a global perspective.
The Federal Member for Riverina Kay Hull, CSU Chancellor Lawrence Willett and the Dean of the CSU Faculty of Science and Agriculture Professor Jim Pratley will also attend the launch.
