- Charles Sturt University has marked 37 years of higher education excellence with the renewal of a collaborative agreement with Hong Kong University
The Charles Sturt University partnership with Hong Kong University School of Professional and Continuing Education (HKU SPACE) has marked 37 years of higher education excellence with the renewal of their collaborative agreement.
The partnership dates back to the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in 1989 focussing on library science, with 888 students having graduated from the program since 2005.
Charles Sturt offers the Bachelor of Information Studies and Master of Information Studies through HKU SPACE. The information studies program has been ranked in the Top 100 worldwide in the 2026 QS Subject Rankings.
Charles Sturt Pro Vice-Chancellor International Mr Mike Ferguson (pictured on right, with Dr John Cribbin) said while many elements of higher education and international relations have evolved this century, the shared commitment to providing opportunities for students remains unwavering.
“This transnational education partnership with HKU SPACE demonstrates the University’s long-term history in international education and its commitment to making world-leading education more accessible globally,” Mr Ferguson said.
“Our partnership has facilitated personal and professional links between Australia and Hong Kong, creating a wide-ranging network of positive and productive relationships which have not only helped students to better themselves but also contributed to the strong relationship between our two nations.”
Director of HKU SPACE, Professor William KM Lee, said HKU SPACE is delighted to renew its long-standing partnership with Charles Sturt University in the delivery of the Bachelor and Master of Information Studies programs.
“This collaboration, which began in 1989, has for decades provided Hong Kong students with high-quality transnational education pathways to Australian university qualifications in information and library studies,” Professor Lee said.
“We value the strength of this partnership and look forward to continue supporting the professional development of information professionals in Hong Kong and the wider region.”
