Charles Sturt University has introduced a new grant to provide financial assistance to students whose ability to continue to study with the University has been impacted as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The COVID-19 Student Support Grant was introduced to help provide short-term financial assistance to Charles Sturt students who have incurred additional study-related expenses which have impacted their ability to study with the University.

The grant will provide successful recipients with scholarships of up to $500 each for full-time students and a pro-rata amount for students who have less than a full-time study load.

Charles Sturt Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Students) Ms Jenny Roberts said the entire University community has felt the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and the scholarships were introduced to provide financial assistance to those students assessed as most in need.

“Charles Sturt University has introduced this new grant to provide short-term financial relief to our students whose ability to continue their studies has genuinely been impacted because of extra costs incurred due to COVID-19,” Ms Roberts said.

“We want every student to succeed in their pursuit of education and meet their education goals and hope that these grants ease some of the financial pressures inflicted by COVID-19 and provide some extra support to help students continue to their studies with Charles Sturt University.

“If you are an active commencing or continuing student who needs help covering any extra expenses you have incurred due to COVID-19 and this has also impacted your ability to study, I encourage you to apply for these grants.”

Applications for the COVID-19 Student Support Grant are open until on Tuesday 21 April 2020.

Students can be submit their applications online via the Charles Sturt scholarships and grants web page.

Each grant application will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. Further details about the grant are available on the COVID-19 Student Support Grant web page.
