Charles Sturt University is offering a new qualification from 2026 that will allow people to prepare for the future of healthcare.

The Graduate Certificate in Digital Health has been strategically designed to transform the future of digital health and gain essential skills to lead, implement and manage digital health solutions.

The course is aimed at those who want to join the healthcare workforce or extend on existing qualifications.

Head of Charles Sturt’s School of Nursing, Paramedicine and Healthcare Sciences Professor Kerryn Butler-Henderson said the University has noticed a growing demand for digital health leaders in healthcare.

“Graduates will be empowered to lead transformative change and enhance the delivery of healthcare services through data and technology-enabled solutions,” she said.

“The course is aimed at anyone working in healthcare and wishing to upskill, such as nurses, allied health staff, private healthcare providers and health managers.

“Alternatively, the course is for anyone that is interested in joining the healthcare sector to prepare for the future of health care.”

The one-year degree can be completed online and was designed by industry experts, underpinned by the Australian Digital Health Capability Framework to ensure it aligns with current workforce needs and future digital health capabilities. The course includes videos and podcasts featuring industry experts who will join Charles Sturt’s academic team in live tutorials.

Graduates will be positioned to lead and shape the future of digital health and contribute meaningfully to the advancement of the evolving field.

No background in health is required to apply. This certification can build on bachelor’s degrees in a range of fields, including business, technology and health.

Career opportunities include becoming a clinical information officer, health informatician, innovation and engagement officer, data officer, privacy officer, clinical analyst, lead policy strategist and data integrity specialist.

Applications for this course open on Friday 8 August 2025. The first session will commence in March 2026.
