Charles Sturt University is proud to support the LGBTIQA+ community and its allies by returning as a regional partner for the Queer Screen Film Festival – ECSTATICA.

This year’s festival features eight short films that honour and celebrate the diverse voices of the LGBTIQA+ community.

The films cover a variety of genres, including drama, comedy and romance.

Charles Sturt Community Relations Officer Ms Karen Faichney said the University is proud to support the LGBTIQA+ communities as a Regional Presenting Partner for the film festival.

“Charles Sturt University is delighted to welcome this vibrant festival back to our regional areas and invites communities to immerse themselves in an elevated screening experience that celebrates the energy, colour, creativity and connection of the LGBTIQA+ community,” she said.

“The festival reinforces the value of representation, and the role storytelling plays in building understanding, connection and inclusion across regional communities.”

Screenings will be held in five of Charles Sturt’s regional campus towns:

  • Orange on Wednesday 4 March
  • Port Macquarie on Friday 27 March
  • Bathurst on Thursday 16 April
  • Dubbo on Wednesday 13 May
  • Albury-Wodonga on Wednesday 20 May

“Featuring eight powerful films, the festival shares stories from an LGBTIQA+ perspective while highlighting the importance of bringing queer voices and experiences to audiences beyond traditional metropolitan centres,” Ms Faichney said.

“Charles Sturt University extends its gratitude to Queer Screen Australia and our community partners whose collaboration has enabled these screenings and ensured this important festival reaches regional communities.”
