A new program aimed at encouraging more women to undertake and complete research at Charles Sturt University (CSU) will be launched this Friday 21 May in Wagga Wagga, NSW.
The Banksia Program – Supporting Women in Research is a three year scheme being run by CSU’s Centre for Research and Graduate Training.
“Producing high quality research of significance to our regions and the professions is a key part of the University’s reason for being,” said Director of CSU’s Research Into Professional Practice, Learning and Education (RIPPLE) and Head of CSU’s Albury-Wodonga Campus Professor Gail Whiteford.
“It’s vital that women at CSU are encouraged and nurtured to be part of that research as well as access and tap into the research network,” she added.
Strategies in the Banksia Program to encourage CSU women to become more research active include PhD Completion Scholarships and mentoring programs.
The Federal Member for Riverina Kay Hull will launch the Banksia Program from 11.30am on Friday 21 May in the CSU Convention Centre.
Deputy Director General of the NSW Department for Women Phillipa Hall will also attend along with leading CSU women researchers such as Professor of Water Policy Kath Bowmer and Professor Gail Whiteford.
