CSU appoints new Deputy Vice-Chancellors

CSU has announced the appointment of two new Deputy Vice-Chancellors.

Charles Sturt University (CSU) has announced the appointment of two new Deputy Vice-Chancellors.
 
Professor Garry Marchant will join CSU as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) and Professor Ken Dillon will take up the role of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration).
 
Professor Garry Marchant.Professor Marchant is currently the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost at Bond University and has a background in business and economics.
 
CSU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Andrew Vann has welcomed Professor Marchant to the University.
 
“Professor Marchant brings a wealth of experience from a broad range of universities, including previous experience as a Deputy Vice-Chancellor,” Professor Vann said. “Given the strategic importance of student experience to Charles Sturt University, I think he will bring a very interesting set of perspectives from his time at Bond.”
 
Professor Marchant has held senior positions in the faculties of Australian and international universities including the University of Melbourne, University of Connecticut, the European Institute of Business Administration (INSEAD) in France, the University of Texas at Austin and the University of New South Wales.
 
He has been widely published and conducts research on performance measurement and evaluation, strategy implementation, cost management and the use of accounting information for strategic decision making.
 
He will take up the position as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) at CSU in September and will be based in Bathurst.
 
The new Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Ken Dillon has worked at CSU for 25 years holding senior positions in each of the University’s four faculties.
 
Professor Ken Dillon. Currently the Dean of Studies, Professor Dillon has held the positions of Acting Dean of the Faculty of Business, Associate Dean of the faculties of Arts and Education, and Head of the School of Information Studies within the former Faculty of Science and Agriculture.
 
“His experience and knowledge of regional NSW and the University gives Professor Dillon a unique perspective on Charles Sturt University’s strengths and the challenges it faces,” said Professor Andrew Vann. “He is very well respected for his insight into the University and his ability to drive change, and I am very much looking forward to working with him in this new role.”
 
Professor Dillon is based at CSU in Wagga Wagga.
 
CSU’s current Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Ross Chambers and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Ms Shirley Oakley will both retire in July 2012.
