Renowned broadcaster Ms Jane Singleton AM, will mark International Women's Day in Wagga Wagga by leading a lively, interactive community debate.

A joint initiative of Charles Sturt University (CSU) and Wagga Wagga City Council, the Make It Happen Q&A Panel will be held in the city's Civic Theatre from 7pm on Tuesday 10 March.

Ms Singleton will chair the Panel and steer the question and answer event in the style of the ABC TV program, Q&A.

The Make It Happen Q&A Panel also includes:

- Ms Denele Crozier – CEO Women's Health NSW

- Colonel Stephen Jobson - Commandant of the Army Recruit Training Centre, Kapooka

- Dr Rowan O'Hagan - CSU Council Member and researcher

- Ms Donna Murray - CEO of Indigenous Allied Health Australia

- Ms Kieran Moore - Director Ogilvy PR and active campaigner for gender equality

- Ms Miriam Silva - Acting Chief Executive for TAFE SA and member of the Multicultural and Ethnic Affairs Commission

"Our high profile panel will debate issues and solutions relating to gender equality through a regional lens," said co-organiser Ms Peita Vincent.

"While topics for discussion throughout the evening will be determined by the Panel and audience, these may include women in education, domestic violence, equal workforce participation, the inclusion of refugee women in the community, and fair and equal access to health services.

"Gender issues are not just women's issues, but are relevant to the whole community, and we encourage all community members to attend.

"Given that one third of Australians live in rural, remote and regional communities, exploring these issues through a regional lens is valuable."

The event is free and open to the public. People are being urged to reserve a ticket and pre-submit questions to the Panel through the Make It Happen Q&A Panel website at http://www.csu.edu.au/go/makeithappen.

The Make It Happen Q&A Panel Working Party was successful in gaining a CSU Leadership Development for Women grant to fund the event and Wagga Wagga City Council is an event partner.

Media Note:

Working Party members Ms Peita Vincent and Ms Wendy De Luca are available for interview about the event.
