NSW Police Commissioner Peter Ryan will swear in the first group of students from Charles Sturt University’s new Diploma of Policing Practice as probationary constables next Tuesday 22 December.

The Diploma was introduced in May this year by the NSW Police Service and CSU in response to the Wood Royal Commission to increase the professional status of policing.

The 200 graduate recruits will take an oath of office at the NSW Police Academy in Goulburn, commencing at 11.30 am.

The probationary constables will receive their Diplomas after completing twelve months of practical training in NSW police stations.
