24 NOVEMBER 2011

A group of CSU staff will this week demonstrate that there are no limits on obtaining further education and training when they attend the CSU Training graduation ceremony in Wagga Wagga.

A group of Charles Sturt University (CSU) staff will this week demonstrate that there are no limits on obtaining further education and training when they attend the CSU Training graduation ceremony in Wagga Wagga.

The awarding of Certificate III in Asset Maintenance (Cleaning Operations) to employees from Charles Sturt Campus Services Limited cleaning team will be a highlight of the ceremony to be held on Friday 25 November

This is the first time that CSU Training has held a graduation ceremony for all of its learners, from both within and outside CSU. Students who completed qualifications between January and October this year have been invited to graduate.

Ms Alicia McCaig will be among those to receive a qualification from CSU Training on Friday 25 November. She is with her manager Mr Martin Dooner and training officer Mr Graham Biddle. “Fifteen service staff employed by Charles Sturt Campus Services Limited in Albury-Wodonga and Wagga Wagga are due to attend the ceremony,” said their manager Mr Martin Dooner.

“The nationally recognised Certificate III in Asset Maintenance (Cleaning Operations) program was developed by Charles Sturt Campus Services and CSU Training. It is delivered online by distance education and assessed in the workplace.

“This is an achievement as we have employees who were not familiar with computers yet they have completed this qualification online. The CSU Training graduation ceremony is a special celebration as this is the first formal qualification completed by some of our employees.

“We are rolling out the new qualification to up to approximately 100 service staff across Charles Sturt University as we want a highly skilled professional workforce with standardised practices across all campuses.”

The CSU Training graduation ceremony will be held from 2pm to approximately 3.15pm on Friday 25 November in the Convention Centre at CSU in Wagga Wagga. Afternoon tea will be served at the end of the ceremony.

The CSU Training learners to attend the graduation ceremony include:
  • The first group of service staff at CSU to complete the new Certificate III in Asset Maintenance (Cleaning Operations)
  • Staff from CSU who have completed Certificate IV in  Business Administration, Certificate IV in Frontline Management, Diploma of Management, and Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • Other graduates from across Australia including: those from the National Aerospace Training Centre of Excellence based at RAAF Forest Hill who have completed the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment; staff from Calvary Health Care Riverina who have completed a Diploma of Management; staff from the NSW Police Force in the Wagga Wagga Local Area Command who have completed a Diploma of Management; staff from NSW Local Health Districts who have completed the Certificate III and Certificate IV in Hospital Pharmacy Support and Diploma of Management; staff from Queensland Health who have completed the Certificate III and Certificate IV in Health/Hospital Pharmacy Support.
