This morning at 11.30am, 413 CSU policing students will attend the parade at the NSW Police College, Goulburn, when they will be admitted as Probationary Constables. They will complete the recruit education program, the Diploma of Policing Practice, through CSU while working with the police.
During this morning’s ceremony the Brotherson Award, in memory of CSU policing student, Robert Brotherson will be awarded for the first time to Stuart Maier. It is awarded to the most successful CSU Diploma of Policing Practice student who is eligible to attest.
On Tuesday 7 May the first intake of Sydney-based students will enrol at the new Richmond Campus, in line with changes to the Diploma police education program, as announced by the Minister in February this year.
It is the first time since CSU began teaching the NSW Police recruit education program that Session One students have been able to study on-campus in the Sydney metropolitan region. Previously, students studied on-campus at the Police College in Goulburn, or by distance education.
After completing Session One, these students will complete Session Two at the NSW Police College, Goulburn, after which they may be eligible to attest and work as Probationary Constables while completing the remainder of the DPP.
More than 300 new police students are expected to enrol on Tuesday. CSU’s Student Association based at Richmond is hosting a barbecue for new students from 12 noon, prior to the formal enrolment which commences at 2pm.
