Albury-based Zauner Construction has been named as the successful tenderer for the design and construction of new student accommodation at Charles Sturt University (CSU) at Orange and Wagga Wagga.
An additional 100 students will be accommodated at Orange and a further 150 at Wagga Wagga when the new residences are completed for the start of the 2014 academic year.
Director of Residence Life at CSU Mr David Griffin said, “These new student beds on our campuses at Orange and Wagga Wagga are a welcome addition to the existing 2 940 student accommodation places we already provide across the University.”
In announcing the $25 million dollar contract, Executive Director of the Division of Facilities Management Mr Stephen Butt said, “This is a major strategic development for Charles Sturt University, particularly for our students.
“The design development phase of the project will take place over the next three months and work at the two sites should commence before Christmas.”
Mr Griffin said, “Charles Sturt University provides accommodation for 30 per cent of its on campus students, the highest figure of any Australian university.
“Being able to provide quality, affordable on campus accommodation is an integral part of the student experience.”
Zauner Construction has delivered a number of buildings for CSU at Orange and Wagga Wagga in the past, including facilities for veterinary science as well as dental and health sciences.
