A Charles Sturt University (CSU) enterprise is in the running for a state-wide training award.
Charles Sturt Campus Services
Limited (CSCS), a wholly owned entity of the University, is one of three
organisations selected as finalists in the large employer category for the 2014
NSW Training Awards
The Awards are hosted annually by the NSW Department of Education and Communities to recognise 'outstanding achievement in the vocational education and training sector'. The winner will be announced at the NSW Training Awards presentation in Sydney on Tuesday 9 September.
CSCS operates across five campuses in regional NSW and employs over 100 people to offer professional cleaning services to the University including student accommodation, teaching, research and administrative facilities.
In addition, the CSU enterprise has been named a finalist in the Murray-Riverina Business Awards. The winner will be announced at a dinner hosted by the NSW Business Chamber in Griffith on Friday 15 August.
CSCS Manager Mr Martin Dooner said, "Being named finalists in the NSW Training Awards as well as the regional business awards is a tribute to the professionalism and hard-work of the Charles Sturt Campus Service team.
"Training for our staff has been and is a high priority with new and existing employees undertaking the Certificate III in Asset Management 'Cleaning Operations'. Delivered through CSU's registered training organisation, the online course recognises existing skills and allows staff to develop new skills in areas such as IT.
"Our Service employs a dedicated trainer, Ms Natalie Edmonds, to support staff in their efforts to standardise best practice across Charles Sturt University's campuses.
"Many staff doing the training have never received any formal qualifications.
"It is most gratifying and humbling to see the sense of accomplishment when they graduate, but even more so when you see their new skills practiced such as proficiently using a computer for the first time."
