Project managers confirmed the completion of the new campus located at Lake Innes for February after rain over the course of construction delayed the originally anticipated completion date.

To minimise disruption to classes, staff and students will relocate to the new campus during the mid-session break, 11 – 22 April 2016.

The new 12 hectare site will offer indoor and outdoor facilities for study, research and academic purposes. The new campus will see CSU increase its teaching, research, employment and community engagement capacity.

"Charles Sturt University is committed to creating a real-world learning environment and a campus experience that integrates learning, living and working in the heart of the Mid North Coast," Head of Campus Professor Heather Cavanagh said.

"The new campus will enhance opportunities for higher education students in the area, increase participation rates in professional fields and increase the number of skilled professionals working in the area.

"Already over 50 per cent of students enrolled at Charles Sturt University in Port Macquarie are from the local area and from 2013 to 2015 the number of staff employed at the campus has increased by almost 260 per cent. We anticipate these figures will increase further as the new campus develops."

CSU aims to develop a full-service campus with a comprehensive course profile for up to 5,000 students by 2030. The first international student intake is planned for 2017.

"We currently offer 11 courses in Port Macquarie and have a further eight planned to be introduced over the next two years which will see the campus develop into a diverse and dynamic learning community," Professor Cavanagh said.

"Charles Sturt University is proud to be part of the Port Macquarie community and looks forward to the opening of our new campus and the additional courses coming to the Mid North Coast in 2016."
