CSU has announced Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Garry Marchant will be leaving the University in June.

Charles Sturt University (CSU) has announced Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Garry Marchant will be leaving the University in June.

CSU Vice-Chancellor Professor Andrew Vann has praised Professor Marchant's contribution to improving learning, teaching and online education.

Professor Vann said, "Garry has been Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic for almost three years and has decided for personal reasons to take a break over the next 12 months while considering his next steps.

"These years have been a particularly interesting and challenging time in higher education.

"During Garry's time at Charles Sturt University, we have opened a campus at Port Macquarie and also introduced programs in engineering and law.

"We have substantially progressed the Smart Learning project and introduced uImagine to consider the future of online education at Charles Sturt University.

"All of these things have positioned the University well for the future and we wish Garry well with his future endeavours."

The University's Smart Learning program aims to design and implement sector leading curriculum, learning and teaching.

Professor Marchant has also supported the uImagine project, a think-tank to drive innovation in digital learning by investigating new technologies and online teaching practices.

Professor Marchant said, "I have most enjoyed the great colleagues at Charles Sturt University and the commitment to our communities and regional Australia."

Professor Marchant will finish at CSU on Tuesday 30 June. His replacement will be named at a later date.
