Charles Sturt University has improved in ratings for graduate employment and salaries, and research intensity in the 2005 edition of the Good Universities Guide.

The highest rating of five stars each for graduate employment and salaries reflects the high regard in which Charles Sturt University graduates are held, Vice-Chancellor Professor Ian Goulter said.

“Our own research conducted by the Western Research Institute in March this year confirms that more than 70 per cent of locals who study at CSU then find work close to their home, so the improvement in our rating is not surprising,” Professor Goulter said.

Professor Goulter said the improvement in research intensity, to two stars, was pleasing.

Recent initiatives to support research students at CSU have resulted in significant improvements in completion rates and attrition rates.

“Improving our research profile is a long-term strategic goal, and the rating improvement reflects the collective effort of all CSU research staff, which will continue as we work towards our long-term goals,” Professor Goulter said.
