A senior delegation from Indonesian universities visited Charles Sturt University (CSU) in Bathurst on Friday 17 April for talks with academic leaders.

The delegation is part of the Australia-Indonesia University Executives Knowledge Sharing Project 2015 which is sponsored by Universities Australia.

CSU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Andrew Vann, and CSU senior executives met with Dr Mohamad Yunus, the Vice Rector of Collaboration Affairs at Universitas Terbuka, and Dr Ir Suprayogi, Head of International Office at Universitas Jenderal Soedirman.

Professor Vann said, "I welcomed the opportunity to meet with the delegation from the Indonesian universities. They were able to share insights from both a distance education and a regional university perspective. It was really interesting to hear the similarities and the differences between the Australian and Indonesian context."

Ms Sue Moloney, Director of International Education and Partnerships in the CSU Division of International Education and Partnerships, said, "The visit enabled University staff to gain valuable insights into the Indonesian higher education system and opportunities for cooperation, particularly in distance education, student exchange, and staff training."

The Australia-Indonesia University Executives Knowledge Sharing Project 2015 involves a delegation of sixteen senior Indonesian university executives visiting Australia in early 2015 to undertake a professional development program and executive shadowing component at Australian universities. The aims of the program are threefold:

To support capacity building and strategic cooperation between Australian and Indonesian universities;

To facilitate people to people linkages with executive personnel; and

To help progress collaboration in areas of mutual interest, such as university management, internationalisation and student mobility.
