Charles Sturt University (CSU) teacher education students will benefit from a new partnership with Teachers Mutual Bank which will provide a $4 000 scholarship and four $500 prizes.

The scholarship, which will assist a first year student with education expenses, will be provided to a student that is able to demonstrate a solid academic record, strong financial need, and community involvement.

Teachers Mutual Bank will also provide four $500 prizes to fourth year students to assist with practicum placement expenses.

Professor Toni Downes, the Executive Dean of the CSU Faculty of Education, said, "The Faculty is excited to partner with Teachers Mutual Bank".

"The partnership will provide some of our teaching students with financial assistance, and will enhance their university experience."

The Chief Executive Officer of Teachers Mutual Bank, Mr Steve James, said, "Charles Sturt University is doing a great job equipping teaching students with practical experience, but we know that work experience practicums can come with hidden expenses".

"In partnership with CSU we are excited to be able to provide this financial support and we hope it will enhance students' practical opportunities."

Teachers Mutual Bank recognises that CSU has one of the largest education faculties in Australia, and produces high quality teaching and education graduates who are well-equipped with industry knowledge and practical experience. The partnership will give these future teachers a helping hand by reducing some of the financial burden and allowing students to focus on becoming the best teachers they can be.Scholarship details will be available on the CSU Scholarships homepage.
