Students
sitting the NSW Higher School Certificate (HSC) in 2017 will benefit from a new
resource-rich website created by academics at Charles Sturt University (CSU).
Lecturer in education in the CSU School of Education in Albury-Wodonga, Mr Paul Grover (pictured), said the new website resource fills the gap left by the demise of an earlier HSC study website.
"When the 'HSC Online' site that had been in existence for more than a decade was closed in 2016, there was no longer a comprehensive online HSC study resource website for NSW senior secondary students," Mr Grover said.
Mr Grover believes there are three key reasons why students need an HSC subjects resource website.
"Firstly, students in regional areas and across all of NSW will now have access to quality HSC subject study resources to support their HSC exam studies," he said.
"There are no other universities providing this service and support to NSW senior high school students, yet these HSC students are at a stage of their lives where education is their priority, and where they are actively considering their vocational future.
"Thirdly, as a regional university, Charles Sturt University has a commitment to regional communities and has an excellent foundation in quality teaching and learning and library services, and is ideally situated throughout the state as a focus for NSW students and their HSC studies."
Mr Grover said the site contains HSC subject learning resources for all courses that have a significant cohort of students studying these subjects, as well as study skills resources and information about studying at university.
"This website is now live, and there is enormous value in it for HSC students, secondary teachers, secondary schools and professional teacher associations because of the rich range of resources it houses," he said.
"This site is a natural 'go-to' site for all NSW HSC students and demonstrates the active relationship between Charles Sturt University and HSC school leavers."
