Charles Sturt University has reaffirmed its commitment to Albury-Wodonga with its comprehensive building and development program continuing in 2001.

On the Albury City Campus, renovations worth $200 000 will be made to buildings in David Street to extensively improve facilities for the photography course and the biomechanics laboratory, which is part of the School of Community Health.

"The extensive building program on the University's Albury-Wodonga Campus, even in these times of restricted funding for Australian universities, reflects the strength of the institution's commitment to Southern NSW and North East Victoria," said the Head of the Albury-Wodonga Campus, Professor David Battersby.

CSU building staff are currently overseeing the completion of further student accommodation on the Thurgoona Campus.

The buildings, worth over $750 000, are due to be completed by June 2001.

Work will commence soon near the student cottages on a $1.2-million student amenities building, due to be completed by the start of the 2002 academic year.

Tenders have been called this week for the earth works for the building. Planning has also commenced on the next stage of academic buildings to be constructed on Thurgoona Campus.
