Albury courses continue strong performance

20 JANUARY 2000

For the second year running, the physiotherapy degree offered on Charles Sturt University's Albury-Wodonga Campus is among the highest published UAI scores in NSW.

For the second year running, the physiotherapy degree offered on Charles Sturt University's Albury-Wodonga Campus is among the highest published UAI scores in NSW, which makes the course one of the most highly sought in the State for 2000.

CSU's Student Administration Manager, Mark Carden said the other health courses offered at Albury - speech pathology and occupational therapy - also shared the strong demand from prospective students from both regional and metropolitan areas.

"The University's regional bonus and early entry schemes have significantly improved the opportunities for students from regional NSW and Victoria to enrol in these high profile courses," Mr Carden said.

"Demand for courses at the Albury-Wodonga Campus also reflects the trends noted in metropolitan media earlier this week, with our education, information technology and accounting courses facing higher demand than in recent years, while the photography course, now in its fourth year, has had its highest demand ever.

"Demand for science and other business courses has remained stable. The new Head of Albury-Wodonga Campus, Professor David Battersby, was pleased with the performance of CSU courses compared to other NSW and Victorian tertiary institutions.

"This year's high demand from around Australia and New Zealand reflects the strength of our courses at Albury, which are highly recognised and respected by the students and employer groups in this nation and overseas," Professor Battersby said.

The first round of offers from NSW universities will be made by the NSW University Admissions Centre to prospective students tomorrow, Friday 21 January. The offers must be accepted by 28 January.
