In response to a media statement issued today by the NSW Nationals, Charles Sturt University (CSU) Dean of the Faculty of Health Studies, Professor Mark Burton wished to clarify some aspects of the statement.

“While Charles Sturt University does believe there is a need for a new medical school located in non-metropolitan regions, no firm proposal has yet been made.

“CSU, together with the University of New England and Southern Cross University have applied for funding for a feasibility study into the potential for such a school. The universities only recently submitted an application for funding for the feasibility study, and have not yet received any feedback on its success or otherwise.”

“CSU is a multi-campus institution and the location of such a facility would be based on information coming from the feasibility study. No decision has been taken.”
