Medical specialists in the Riverina also stand to benefit from the donation of the Powervision 8000 system, as the CSU School of Clinical Sciences hopes to make the equipment available to the Riverina Medical Imaging Group for staff training.
The Medical Division of Toshiba Australia will donate the $200 000 system to the School of Clinical Sciences during a short presentation tomorrow, Thursday 6 December at 2.30pm.
Head of the School of Clinical Sciences, Associate Professor Scott Bowman, said the donation was recognition of CSU’s leading role in medical imaging education.
“Although our course is only two years old, already we have established ourselves as one of the largest and most popular medical imaging degree programs,” Associate Professor Bowman said.
“We have the only Professor of Medical Imaging in Australia, Professor Trevor Beckwith.”
Toshiba Australia National Projects and Promotions Manager, David Rigby said Toshiba was committed to the provision of excellent standards in ultrasound education and research and development in the medical imaging profession.
“We believe that students attending the University will benefit from using up to date premium level ultrasound technology, similar to that being used in current medical imaging practice,” he said.
The presentation of the Toshiba Powervision 8000 Diagnostic Ultrasound System will take place at 2.30pm tomorrow, Thursday 6 December in building 10, the Sheldon Pavilion, on the Wagga Wagga Campus.
Toshiba Australia Managing Director Hidemi Murata will make a short presentation.
