High school students to explore what University has to offer

Charles Sturt to welcome high school students to campus for taste of university life during Explore Days.

  • Charles Sturt to host Explore Days on six campuses for students in Years 10, 11 and 12
  • Explore Day is for students to learn about the University’s courses, support and services through workshops and tours
  • First Explore Day to be held in Port Macquarie on Wednesday 10 March

High school students will get their first glimpse of university life during Charles Sturt University’s upcoming Explore Days.

The University will hold Explore Days at each of its six campuses for students from Years 10, 11 and 12 to showcase the University’s courses, support and services.

Students will be able to participate in workshops, demonstrations, and campus and accommodation tours, and learn about scholarships and admissions.

Explore Days will be held in Port Macquarie on Wednesday 10 March, Bathurst on Tuesday 16 March, Orange on Wednesday 17 March, Wagga Wagga on Tuesday 23 March, Albury-Wodonga on Tuesday 30 March and Dubbo on Wednesday 31 March.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Students) Ms Jenny Roberts said high school students, parents and career advisers attending an Explore Day can expect an insight into life at Charles Sturt.

“We are so excited to welcome students back to campus, and for the month of March, that will also include high school students visiting for Explore Day,” she said.

“The University has state-of-the-art services and facilities and is ranked in the top five universities in the country for undergraduate employment.

“We look forward to having the next generation of university students on campus to show what Charles Sturt University has on offer.”

Charles Sturt Executive Director of Future Students Mr Shawn Walker said Explore Day was a commitment to the University’s local communities and beyond to provide students with an opportunity to immerse themselves in hands-on classroom experiences and tours.

“Our events at Charles Sturt University are our way of showcasing the range of engaging and dynamic student experiences and course offerings for prospective students,” he said.

“The program of events we have curated for this series has been tailored to ensure those considering study with us will have the opportunity to explore their areas of interest.”

Current staff and students will host a series of workshops and events to familiarise high school students with their chosen field, including paramedicine, criminal justice, information technology, nursing, agriculture, oral health, education, engineering and psychology.
