Chinese university delegation to visit CSU Bathurst

A delegation from Yangzhou University, China, will visit Charles Sturt University (CSU) on Friday 15 December 2006 to discuss the developing relationship between the two universities.

A delegation from Yangzhou University, China, will visit Charles Sturt University (CSU) on Friday 15 December 2006 to discuss the developing relationship between the two universities.
 
“Our discussions will focus on opportunities in three areas,” said CSU Vice-Chancellor Ian Goulter. “Firstly, we will discuss the expansion of collaborative programs and possible improvements in delivering these courses.
 
“Secondly, we will consider an agreement on the offering of new streams and levels in our collaborative programs.
 
“Finally, we will discuss the implementation of the Australian Government’s new Quality Framework for Transnational Education, which aims to ensure the high quality and integrity of Australian education and training in all locations in which it is delivered outside Australia.”
 
Professor Goulter said he was delighted to welcome this senior delegation from Yangzhou University. “It marks an historic stage in the development of the relationship between both universities.”
 
CSU already has experience in working with Yangzhou University, with the University’s Faculty of Commerce offering a collaborative Bachelor of Business Studies with Yangzhou. “We are considering offering our Bachelor of Business (Specialisations) and Bachelor of Information Technology, as well as Masters programs,” Professor Goulter said.
 
The delegation will be welcomed at a luncheon hosted by Vice-Chancellor Ian Goulter who will then lead a tour of CSU’s Bathurst Campus, accompanied by senior CSU staff. The delegation’s visit will conclude with a dinner at the Cobblestone Lane restaurant in Bathurst.
 
The Yangzhou University delegation includes the University President, Professor Guo Rong, Professor Qin Aijian (Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Science), Associate Professor Qian Xiaoqin (Director, President’s Office), Associate Professor Zhang Wu (Director, Asset Management Office), Associate Professor Yong Zicheng (Deputy Dean, Faculty of Economics), and Ms Guo Li (Deputy Director, International Office).
 
Yangzhou University, one of 111 institutions of higher learning in Jiangsu Province is located in the city of Yangzhou which is famous for its lacquer ware and jade ware. Jiangsu Province is situated in central eastern China beside the Yellow Sea and is noted for having the highest number of historical cities in China. The province has a population of 74 million and has the second highest gross domestic product per person of all Chinese provinces.
