Mr Patrick Sproule, lecturer in television production at the CSU School of Communication and Creative Industries in Wagga Wagga, said, “Based on the success of last year’s live streaming of the Newton’s Nation event, this year we have expanded the stream to be able to deliver High Definition video to 27 different media partners with an expected international viewing audience of over 100 000 people.
“Charles Sturt University has recognised the scale of the event through becoming a media partner. Professional productions such as these, with the added pressure of a large ‘live’ audience, provide a fantastic basis for CSU students to build upon and showcase their skills ensuring that they graduate with a breadth of experience so valued by the television industry.”
The event is a major challenge for the CSU students given the steep terrain, the high speed at which the competitors travel, and the fact it stretches over a couple of kilometres of track. Planning, training and testing has been under way for the past month. The crew of 18 staff and students will use CSU’s High Definition Outside Broadcast facility, along with nine cameras and over three kilometres of cabling. The live stream can be viewed from 9am to 4pm AEST via: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Olrk5ZQIypE
