From a student in the late 1970’s to his current role as Head of Campus, Mr Adrian Lindner has seen the growth and development of Charles Sturt University (CSU) in Wagga Wagga.

“When I was studying at the University’s predecessor, the Riverina College of Advanced Education in 1977, you’d park in the paddock and there was only a handful of buildings,” said Mr Lindner.
“Now Charles Sturt University is Australia’s largest inland university. It is a leader in, and the largest provider of, Distance Education and the Wagga Wagga campus boasts world-class facilities.
“It’s been exciting to see new courses such as Veterinary Science and Oral Health introduced in Wagga Wagga and for the first graduates of these programs to head out into the workforce.
”There’s also been tremendous infrastructure development on the campus with award winning buildings, such as the National Life Sciences Hub, that have introduced sustainability initiatives to achieve green star ratings.”
Mr Lindner is most proud of the role he played in strengthening the University’s profile and fostering relationships in the community.
“Charles Sturt University has developed a strong working relationship with Wagga Wagga City Council and I’ve also enjoyed working with TAFE NSW- Riverina Institute, the RAAF base and the Army Recruit Training Centre Kapooka to look for common threads in education and training,” he said.
In his role as Head of Campus in Wagga Wagga, Mr Lindner has also been involved with the Australian Aviation Hall of Fame, Amy St Clair Melonoma Trust and Defence Reserves Support Council Riverina/Murray.
“From practical research to producing graduates who make a difference in rural communities, I am proud that Charles Sturt University is here for the public good, just like Captain Charles Sturt’s moto,” said Mr Lindner.
“There is so much skill, talent and expertise right on Wagga Wagga’s door-step and that we’ve been able to use that knowledege base for the good of the community and the wider Riverina region is fantastic for regional Australia.”
With a background in accountancy and health administration, Mr Lindner joined CSU in 1991 as University Accountant. He’s also held the roles of Director of Finance and Director of Commercial Services.
Mr Lindner has been a Board Director of the University’s Australian Centre for Christianity and Culture (ACC&C) in Canberra, member of the CSU/NSW Police Contract Adminstration Review Committee, and Chairman of the CSU Sustainability Program Committee.
CSU Vice-Chancellor Professor Andrew Vann has praised Mr Lindner for his contribution to the University.
"Adrian's career spans 22 years with the University. As Head of Campus for the last four years, he has continued the strong tradition of previous occupants of that role who have ably represented the needs and aspirations of the Riverina community to the University, and the University to the Riverina community,” said Professor Vann. “On behalf of the University I would like to thank Adrian for his service and to wish him the best in his future endeavours".
