An undergraduate refugee student enrolled in session one 2024 by the census date on Sunday 3 March could have their financial pressures eased with a $100,000 scholarship available through Charles Sturt University.
The scholarship will assist the successful applicant to cover ongoing costs of attending university, and will be dispersed equally over three years, subject to successful completion of the student’s course each year.
The scholarship is open to currently enrolled Charles Sturt refugee students with an intent to continue further study at the University. The student can be studying any course, including the Diploma of General Studies, and be in any year of study.
Charles Sturt Foundation Chief Executive Officer Ms Sarah Ansell said this scholarship provided vital support for students who had already come so far in getting to where they were in their educational journey.
“This scholarship will assist a highly deserving student to pursue their career dreams while easing the financial pressure among everything else they have gone through to be a student at Charles Sturt,” Ms Ansell said.
“The scholarship funds will be put towards ongoing university costs such as on-campus accommodation, textbooks, tuition fees, work placements and other essential items such as equipment to complete their studies.”
This scholarship is open to both commencing and continuing students who will be studying online, on campus, or via a mixed mode (online and on campus), from any Charles Sturt campus such as Albury-Wodonga, Bathurst, Dubbo, Orange, Port Macquarie and Wagga Wagga.
Applicants must supply a copy of a qualifying visa with their application and are asked to outline the obstacles they have faced during their educational journey, including any financial barriers and their career dreams.
To receive this scholarship, the student must have accepted an unconditional offer with Charles Sturt University and be enrolled in Session 1 2024 beyond the first census date of the academic year, being Sunday 3 March 2024.
Applications for this scholarship close at 9am on Monday 15 January.
