- The new Executive Dean of the Faculty of Business, Justice and Behavioural Sciences Professor Lewis Bizo has a strong record in senior academic leadership and administrative roles in Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom
Charles Sturt University has welcomed Professor Lewis Bizo as the new Executive Dean of the Faculty of Business,
Justice and Behavioural Sciences.
Professor Bizo has extensive experience in academic leadership in higher education and was most recently the Deputy Dean in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS).
He has held substantive leadership and administrative roles in New Zealand, the United Kingdom and Australia, including at two regional universities, and was previously a Head of School at the University of New England and the University of Waikato in New Zealand.
Professor Bizo said he looks look forward to applying his experience to his new role as Executive Dean.
“I am looking forward to the opportunity and challenge to lead such a large and diverse faculty at one of Australia’s leading regional universities,” he said.
“I have already had the opportunity to meet a number of staff and have been singularly impressed by their enthusiasm and commitment to the University and delivering on the University’s strategic goals, in particular, to provide leading-edge learning experiences for students and support the needs of our regional communities.”
In addition to his academic leadership experience, Professor Bizo has a strong record in delivering high-quality research outputs.
He holds a PhD in psychology, and his research interests focus on applied and health-related topics spanning addiction, self-control and motivation, among other areas. He maintains active research collaborations with colleagues at several institutions.
Charles Sturt Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Graham Brown said Professor Bizo is a welcome addition to the University and its academic leadership team.
“I am pleased to welcome Professor Bizo to the University and I’m confident the knowledge and experience he brings from his roles across both metropolitan and regional universities will be a strong asset to Charles Sturt University,” Professor Brown said.
Professor Bizo started at Charles Sturt on Monday 4 July and is based at the University in Bathurst.
