- Delegation of 13 business executives and senior government officials visit Bathurst and Charles Sturt University
- Delegates will tour Charles Sturt Engineering on Thursday 26 June
A delegation of Chinese business and civic leaders will visit Charles Sturt University in Bathurst on Thursday 26 June to explore its outstanding engineering program.
Charles Sturt Engineering lecturer in civil engineering Dr Miao Li and senior engineer-in-residence Mr Peter Thew will lead the delegates’ hour-long tour starting at 2.30pm.
Dr Li said, “We are delighted the delegates chose Bathurst as one of the cities they wanted to visit while in Australia and are the guests of Bathurst Regional Council.
“The delegation is looking at building economic, trade, cultural and educational relations as well as a possible sister-city relationship with Bathurst.
“The delegation is hoping to bring a student study tour to Bathurst in August, and when they asked to tour an educational facility, Council asked the University to provide a tour of Charles Sturt Engineering for their guests.
“Council included the Charles Sturt Engineering on the delegates’ tour to showcase the world leading education offered at the University.
“The degree offered in Bathurst is radically different from the majority of engineering degrees found around the world, with a strong focus on industry placement and on-demand learning, while shifting away from formal exams.
“We look forward to welcoming them to Charles Sturt University and to showcasing the unique features of Charles Sturt Engineering,” Dr Li said.
The 13 delegates include business executives and senior government officials of Yangquan, including Ms Lei Jiankun, the Mayor of the People’s Government of Yangquan City.
