Governor of New South Wales to visit Charles Sturt in Port Macquarie

The Honourable Margaret Beazley AO and her husband Mr Dennis Wilson will visit Charles Sturt in Port Macquarie on Thursday 24 October.

The Governor of New South Wales, the Honourable Margaret Beazley AO (pictured), and her husband Mr Dennis Wilson will visit Charles Sturt University (Charles Sturt) in Port Macquarie on Thursday 24 October.

The Vice Regal couple will arrive at 1:45pm and will undertake a full tour of the campus’s facilities followed by an afternoon tea.

Among the guests accompanying Her Excellency and Mr Beazley on the tour will be Biripai Elder Uncle Bill OAM, and Charles Sturt’s Director of External Engagement for Port Macquarie Ms Kate Wood-Foye.

The couple will tour the campus’s Paramedicine wing, new nursing simulation lab, and Indigenous Student Centre, as well as stage two of the $61 million upgrade to the campus.

Her Excellency and Mr Beazley will meet and speak to academics, general staff and students at these locations.

At 2.40pm Uncle Bill will conduct the Welcome to Country in the campus’s amphitheatre before afternoon tea is served, after which there will be a formal photograph taken in the amphitheatre before the Governor and Mr Beazley depart at 3.10pm.

Ms Wood-Foye said she and the other Charles Sturt representatives are looking forward to showcasing the campus’s features to the Governor.

“It is a great honour for Charles Sturt University in Port Macquarie to host the NSW Governor and her husband,” she said.

“We are excited to have the chance to show them the campus’s state-of-the-art facilities and upgrades, which underscore Charles Sturt University’s importance in the emerging health and education precinct.

“Her Excellency is known to take an active interest in education, and we are sure she and her husband will be impressed by the facilities Charles Sturt University has to offer in Port Macquarie.”
