Soak up the sun, local products and live music at the Port Macquarie Sunrise Campus Markets

Charles Sturt and Port Macquarie Rotary Club collaborate to create vibrant monthly markets on the university campus from 5 February 2023.

Charles Sturt University in Port Macquarie is collaborating with the Rotary Club of Sunrise Port Macquarie to launch the Sunrise Campus Markets.

Hosted on the lawn and undercover at the Charles Sturt University Port Macquarie campus the markets will feature over 30 local market vendors, with the first market to be held this Sunday 5 February, running from 8.30am to 12.30pm.

Charles Sturt Director of External Engagement Port Macquarie Ms Kate Wood-Foye said the markets will bring together a fantastic mix of artisans and local businesses in a family-friendly environment.

“There will be fresh produce, handcrafted gifts, vintage fashion, sustainable accessories, art, jewellery, freshly ground coffee, baked sweet treats, food carts and more!” said Ms Wood-Foye.

“Charles Sturt is very excited to offer our beautiful Port Macquarie campus for all to enjoy, and to work with a like-minded organisation such as Sunrise Rotary.”

“Sunday will be a great event, the perfect opportunity to grab a picnic blanket and soak up the sun with live local music from songbird Charlotte Schrader.”

The Rotary Club of Sunrise Port Macquarie will receive all proceeds from the stallholder registration fees to help fund the club’s future community projects.

The University will provide comprehensive support around the event. In addition to providing an all-weather venue, Charles Sturt is assisting with live entertainment, lawn games, and security and fire management.

“This is only the beginning, as we watch this market get bigger and better every month,” said Ms Wood-Foye.

“When our students return to campus next month we will be encouraging them to get involved as exhibitors and we’re hoping our international students will join the event, sharing their culture and traditional cuisine.”

Sunrise Rotary Markets Committee Chair, Colin Norton said he is looking forward to bringing the community together on Sunday to launch the markets.

“Sunrise Campus Markets are volunteer run, with all site fees and funds raised from gold coin donations being invested back into community projects locally, nationally or internationally,” Mr Norton said.

“We are looking forward to welcoming our stallholders and supporting them as the market grows each month.”

Stallholders interested in attending future markets can obtain more information at https://sunrise-rotary.org.au/markets/ or come along to chat to Colin and the team on Sunday.

The Sunrise Campus Markets will be held at Charles Sturt University Port Macquarie, 7 Major Innes Road, Port Macquarie outside Building 802 and surrounds, commencing on Sunday 5 February 2023.
