Up to 600 staff from around Australia will study a new education program that Charles Sturt University has developed exclusively for the Commonwealth Bank’s business banking division.

The Graduate Certificate in Business Banking will enable Commonwealth Bank business banking managers to specialise in areas most relevant to their clients’ business sectors. It is being officially launched at CSU’s Bathurst Campus on Wednesday 15 August at 10am.

The specialist course, delivered by distance education, includes two compulsory subjects and two optional subjects that allow staff to specialise in relevant industry areas.

Dean of the Faculty of Commerce, Professor John Hicks, said the course would equip staff selected by the Commonwealth Bank with specialist business analysis skills.

“The course has been designed to be flexible, while focused on helping Commonwealth Bank business bankers to maximise their understanding of their clients’ business dynamics and the commercial environment.”

Professor Hicks said the development of dedicated industry programs was an expanding area for CSU.

“Partnerships such as this are an important step for the University.

“Not only because such partnerships develop our relationship with industry, but they also allow the University to keep up to date with the latest industry knowledge. This enables the University to keep coursework relevant to specific industry areas.”
