Charles Sturt University (CSU) will offer a customised commerce course for members of NSW cooperatives from the start of 2015.
The Graduate Certificate in Commerce has been tailored by the CSU Faculty of Business for the Co-operative Federation of NSW (CFNSW). It has a unique focus on cooperative management, and is open to CFNSW employees, members and interested members of the public, including members of other cooperatives and incorporated bodies.
Ms Cecilia Hunt, CSU Faculty of Business manager of TAFE and Corporate Partnerships, said, "Charles Sturt University is proud to work in association with the CFNSW on the professional development of its members and staff.
"The customised course will be delivered online. In addition, if minimum intake numbers for this course are met, a face-to-face workshop will be provided by an academic from the University for each subject. These workshops will provide opportunities for collaborative learning, support from peers, and sharing practical ideas."
The CFNSW is the peak representative body for co-operatives in New South Wales. It was established by NSW cooperatives to advocate for the cooperative sector; raise public awareness, provide education, resources and networking opportunities; and maintain links with other organisations, both interstate and internationally.
"We are thrilled about this new and exciting partnership with CSU," said CFNSW Secretary, Mr Richard O'Leary. "It is fantastic to be able to up-skill our employees and members in the area of cooperative management. This course will equip them with practical skills that will add real value for those interested in and working in our sector."
The customised course also provides a strong foundation for participants if they continue on with more advanced studies in the Graduate Diploma / Masters courses.
The course will be open from Session 1, 2015 onwards. For further information, please contact fobpartnerships@csu.edu.au or (02) 6338 4025.
