A Charles Sturt University (CSU) postgraduate student has been honoured by securing a national industry award for his academic achievements during his Master of Business Administration (MBA).
A distance education student at CSU, Leigh Carson, has won the postgraduate award from the Logistic Association of Australia for his MBA studies in supply chain management.
Supply chain management involves the coordinated oversight of materials, information and finances as they move from supplier to manufacturer to wholesaler and retailer and finally the consumer.
The Logistic Association of Australia’s scholarships and awards program is open to students majoring in logistic or supply chain studies at universities across the country.
After he was named a recipient of one of the two national postgraduate awards, Mr Carson will be presented with a certificate and $5 500 at a Logistic Association dinner in Sydney on 11 June 2003.
Mr Carson has been studying by distance education for 10 years, during which time he has completed a Bachelor of Business at Monash University and an MBA from CSU.
Employed as the Group Business Analyst with the company, 1st Fleet, Mr Carson has high praise for CSU and chose to study at Charles Sturt University after evaluating courses at capital city based institutions.
“I had no hesitation in enrolling in the CSU MBA program as I realised that universities such as Charles Sturt were continually examining their courses to offer subjects over the internet in line with that offered by the world’s best,” said Mr Carson.
While he now lives in the Blue Mountains, Mr Carson is familiar with CSU’s Wagga Wagga Campus as he spent six years working in the city as a police officer during the 1980s.
“Leigh’s award is a testimony to the quality of students on the CSU MBA program and the recognition the University receives from industry and professional bodies,” said Associate Professor Mark Farrell Head of the Asia Pacific Graduate School of Management at CSU.
